they have sites now where you deposit gp and play a dice game like primedice, don't know why you wouldn't just use a regular btc casino
I'm a former dice host, and I'd honestly prefer a gambling-free RuneScape. Gambling in RuneScape was certainly very interesting and I won't lie in saying it wasn't enjoyable as heck, but at the same time it turned the goals of the game away from skilling/bossing/PvP towards just having the biggest cash stack.

I'd love to see the ability to stake removed as part of a game integrity update. Keep the duel arena, but instead of staking offer a choice between safe and dangerous fights, where the winner can just collect their opponent's items. Essentially a place for 1v1 fighting without the risk of PJing like in the Wilderness. That's what the duel arena should be for IMO.
It's weird, in game I'm as frugal as possible with pking/staking and hate risking items.

Yet, I'll easily go to Greektown Casino and throw 100 dollar bets in blackjack like confetti.

Guess it's all about your dealer, in runescape and irl  Rolleyes
Outside of what has been mentioned here, Runescape 3's micro-transactions are a huge form of gambling.
Jagex like many companies have tried to dissuade this by saying it's not gambling if you win every time, which is garbage, as this type of loot box preys on people's gambling additions.

Even if the majority of RS players aren't technically 'kids', I'm sick to death of developers incorporating gambling into their games. Whether it be through Loot Boxes, SoF/TH, or anything else. What happened to putting effort into producing quality content that people are happy to pay money for? Unbelievable how lazy companies have become.

In OSRS's case it was the playerbase that introduced gambling by using some of the rng elements of the game (dicing, flowers, toy horses etc). The only thing Jagex themselves added was the duel arena which, as wildly popular as it is, just became a hub for scamming and RWT rather than a "minigame".
Does the Duel Arena count as gambling? You do have a certain degree of control over the outcome, though I admit that's debatable re boxing (or does the switching between kicking and defensive punching actually work?
Duel Arena as been my form of gambling. Not for RWT purposes or anything like that but, it was just simply addicting. I have been cleaned more times than I can count and I have won so much money I didn't know what to do with it, lol!!

Believe me! I have experienced that as well. It never ends well, lol!!!!
crazy how if playerbase wouldn't introduce gambling, developers would. in main rs all these treasure hunter keys and the like are really bothersome.

Yeah, but at the same time if we had more restraint then devs would stop as they wouldn't be getting enough money out of it to be worth the hassle. But seeing as loot boxes are now a staple gaming feature we obviously don't have very good self control.
