What sort of gambling options have been tried in Rs? What has worked in the past? What has failed? What could possibly work?

What is better: using real money or using game currency or some fake currency?

Will this benefit or hinder clans?

Discuss.
As far as I recall, they used the Easter Ring, Flowers, Dungeoneering skillcape emote and dices from Faruq. All of them were either changed to remove the random factor or just removed.

It's simply not allowed by Jagex and I don't think it should be. If people really want to gamble they can do so IRL.
Pretty sure they used the toy horses at one point too lmao (they had a few different random options the player would say when you used one). I don't think that kind of gambling should be brought back into OSRS simply due to how dangerous trust trading is, the only way I'd be happy with it is if there was a system built to handle gambling like that (Duel Arena for example).

Overall I think gambling RS gold just fosters RWTing which is detrimental to the game as a whole but is pretty great for clans who only want to play endgame PvP content. Getting their accounts to the stage where they can take part in that content as fast as they can would benefit them and the clans so being able to buy huge amounts of RSGP generated from gambling supports that.
Say neigh to gambling guys
Just say neigh to gambling!
Lets keep it out of RuneScape. Kids play this game and do not fully understand the non random element of scamming type people. Ironically I gamble more playing Uno and Backgammon than I would ever dare with RuneScape.
I never messed with any of the gambling but, I would try it lol Tongue
As a recovering staking addict I say neigh to gambling.

Even if the majority of RS players aren't technically 'kids', I'm sick to death of developers incorporating gambling into their games. Whether it be through Loot Boxes, SoF/TH, or anything else. What happened to putting effort into producing quality content that people are happy to pay money for? Unbelievable how lazy companies have become.

In OSRS's case it was the playerbase that introduced gambling by using some of the rng elements of the game (dicing, flowers, toy horses etc). The only thing Jagex themselves added was the duel arena which, as wildly popular as it is, just became a hub for scamming and RWT rather than a "minigame".
