I think Jagex will be taking a hard look at who they hire in the future. They will most likely double their employee monitoring and implement harsher legal penalties for those who do turn down this unethical path.

Should probably look at themselves and think about why a junior developer at their company would be able to access delicate information from so many players

Good point. I think companies do not think about these situations until they happen and then it makes work a pain in the ass for the people who know better.

Hard to believe. I mean, I understand it's tempting but when you're in that position, you gotta remember the amount of trust the players have in you, and betraying that totally ruins the credibility of the game.

After my own run in with Jagex, my account was perma banned without reason. Three years later, when Jagex started approaching fansites to build community, I asked about my account and they immediately unbanned it citing that somebody "high up" had ordered it banned. Logging in, I found my bank cleared of all my wealth, which included 55 party hats, and a crapton of all other rares. (my mule accounts loaded with rares were banned too). I didn't wanna believe that a Jagex staffer would steal my pixels,... always choosing instead to believe that my account was hacked by somebody and then gotten banned as a result of shenanigans they did... but now after this, I'm gonna entertain the thought that it was a Jagex staffer who cleaned my bank... either as vengeance to hit me where they can... or for financial reasons.

Considering their behavior towards Zybez in the past and now this it wouldn't surprise me if that's what happened.

Awfull and very short-sighted behaviour. At least he didn't manage to do any serious harm since they gave all items back.

That employee was caught hacking items into the game for BoB. Crazy how someone is willing to abuse their position of power like that just for ingame pixels.

Don't underestimate how serious some people take games. Some people get so wrapped up in this nonsense we consider "clan beef" that they lose touch of reality and think of their online clan/community/guild etc as a gang or the like. I've seen enough over the years that this shit doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
Believe me I've seen what the clan world has devolved into. I see it happen often so it's not surprising to me, but that doesn't mean I can understand the thought process someone goes through to justify taking it out of the game.

Definitely a dumb/shady thing to do, and it's bad for jagex' image as well as RoT's. No idea how true the allegations are, but the overreaction on Reddit makes it really funny either way.

Now this, children, is what they call a 'long con'. This guy is so committed to the game that he put in the time and effort to rise through the ranks of Jagex itself for the sole purpose of hacking other players.

Absolute mad lad.
