I'm confused as to why Zybez was shut down? - Rare_z - 09-20-2018

Okay, I understand it was shutdown due to being an old, decrepit forum with a path rapidly approaching the Moon.

However, why close it down? It deserves to forever be online. Even if it was closed down, why open a MyBB forum literally right after?

Idk, I'm confused as to (1) it closed and (2) why this mybb forum is a thing?

Genuinely curious here.

It was owned by Curse Inc and there just wasn't simply enough revenue to support it/keep it updated. This forum is an independent venture by W13.

I think Curse have refused to relinquish control, otherwise it would still be running.

Curse owned Zybez, everything on that site belongs to them so when they made the decision to close it down due to revenue, lack of resources to keep things updated and to fix the bugs there's nothing anyone could do about it. A lot of people expressed an interest in carrying on so that's why W13 made this site, sadly he couldn't get a copy of the Zybez database so starting from scratch was the only option.

Apparently they would rather keep the rights and make what little revenue they can from the adverts that are still running, then take the site offline completely when that dries up too.
