By 'this community' I am not targeting RSC/Zybez, but the actual people within the 'clan world' (so to say) that we have left, or maybe even for the next sort of generation.
There will always be a 'survival of the fittest' mentality amongst clans. That cannot be changed, nor should it. However, as we have seen some clans boast, brag, gloat, and use as their own platform of toxicity... what I mean is the obsession to kill off any clan that you (generalizing) deem necessary. While realistically, it comes down to the mentality of the leadership and the members to pull through those obsessions of others, it does come back to our community as gamers; for our 'clan word' or the next who come and take over. Some might think of this as a soft post. Some might think of this like "it's gunna happen anyways" or some just might be oblivious to the actual chain of events which have taken course with this unnecessary obsession.
Beef, drama, rivalries - these are all good for both sides. To solve your problems and disputes, take it on out on your opposition. But since the start of OSRS and pre-OSRS, we have seen what obsessive behavior does to the community. DDoSing is a common act, doxing, real-life pranks/threats/etc; those behaviors as a result, show to others why to not join and participate in clan/team PvP (CWA/Wilderness is still PvP). Regardless of the trolls and such aside, there are ways to develop a mutual and beneficial rivalry that doesn't come at the cost of your opposition closing (which hinders you in the future). That is up to you guys currently running clans/teams and up to others to decide on how to handle things. When you are so obsessed in this chain of power idea, you leave your common sense or sense of general logic behind and adapt a mindset that has been tarnishing this game's clanning community.
Maybe some will understand what I am saying and most likely, plenty others will not. Even so, I just felt like it had to be said. When a former clan mate and I had spoken, I had thought that in the end there would be only 4 primary clans around. Unfortunately, clan-wise, that seems to be either the case or just about at least. We have to keep in mind why we/you are all playing and if it's for the sake of having action - then contemplate what happens when your source of action shuts down. You won't have that group of people to challenge or prove a point to.
The more this trend stays, the quicker new players will start forming their own clans/teams, as the toxicity from previous players will be gone. But it won't ever be the same.
What are your thoughts on clan/team to clan/team beef, drama; essentially, what do you think of the mindset to kill off a clan completely?
