Don't see how people can look into the mirror and think they're a remotely good person when they go out of their way to harm other people on a videogame. People still hide behind "it's the internet so everything is allowed" because they can't take responsibility for their own actions. All this beef is just pointless and has done far more damage than good. In the end it always backfires, when you kill another clan it only means less action for your own clan. Would probably be better if the current clan world dies so a new generation can start over, with hopefully better manners.

It all depends on where you draw the line, I don't agree that RL flaming is necessary but I'm of the mindset if someone does it to me I'll do it back to them although admittedly when things get heated a lot of us tend to lash out and say some outlandish shit with the intent of making the other person angrier than you are, me included. I think talking shit to each other is just natural, you see it in all forms of competition and this being a video game amplifies that due to perceived anonymity people have. People get far too upset in game over words when in reality they should be getting upset at things like DDoSing, Doxing, IP grabbing, hacking and things along those lines rather than all the shit talking we do to each other. 

People crashing each other just stemmed from clans trying to "starve" each other or just straight up refusing to fight someone who was stronger than them for fear of losing so what else are clans supposed to do? Sit there with no activity and hope someone is brave enough to scrap? I don't think so, taking action from whoever, wherever and whenever is much better than being stagnant in my opinion.

This is pretty much the sum of what I feel. I agree beefing in itself is one thing, but taking things outside of the game is where the line becomes an issue to me. In my opinion, this do anything to get the W mentality is silly, people would rather 1 item each other for 27 hours than take an L. In the old clan days if you lost the fight you prepped harder for the fight next week (because it was inevitably going to happen).

I believe clans beefing and having a rivalry is interesting. I remember, when i waa younger, waiting anxiously to see the top clans fight for a top spot/ranking. I remember seeing how the effects of a certain clan's members leaving to another clan created such rivalries. It was epic, the drama was real, but it wasnt overdone. There wasnt of a sense to personally harm each other. When wars were done, spams of gf or ty4fite would go high. 


Now, it's different. There's hardly respect. Ive been apart of the respectful side of clanning, as well as the disrespectful side. Wars are now fought in the wild, cwa, and rl. If i had to tell new clan members about todays clan world and what to expect. Id say this. Dont use your real name, create a whole seperate email, never give out details of your personal life or achievements, create a new identity, if you have to, use a VPN. Sounds very extreme, but thats what ive done for the most part to avoid "leaks". The clan world became barbaric. But that was to be expected because there is no order to begin with.

Id personally say, let the current scene die. Let it rebuild under a structure. Let a new way of fighting take over. It's hard to create a competition in which all clans can partake due to personal beef. It'll be something else to see the clan world compete under an honor code again

Only way I can see this successfully happening is if Jagex implements a legit clan system that works in game and on their site EFFICIENTLY. I don't like the idea of killing the clan world and letting the players control it again. Its proven to be the worst possible method.

I remember the old RSC ladder and how interesting it was seeing it fluctuate with the ranks etc.. Now unfortunately you can’t have something like that without someone claiming bias, someone being bias or justout of game tactics causing a disruption. 

Jagex claims to want to see OSRS rise as an ESport but haven’t made the moves to give it that credibility. When we can’t have an official ladder or elo system, all communications between clans are forced to offsites or other ways you can’t have a serious competitive scene.

It was interesting seeing all that. As for jagex creating a clan system. I remember when they brought out Clan Citadels and such. Was good to see clans having their own Vexilums (clan standards/flags) and of course a National Ranking. Unfortunately that didnt work out great, and remains a failure. Great idea, poorly executed and developed.

If I was Jagex, I'd create some APIs that allow 3rd-party programmers to track player positions, deaths (along with coordinates), clan info, etc. etc. (there'd be privacy settings of course). As a programmer, I'd be able to (fairly easily) create some awesome tools that show fight summaries and little X's where each kill occurred on a map, and all sorts of juicy stats and "achievements". It can be rolled into tournament system, contest/betting, rankings, etc.

It's good that RuneScape's clanning system is fairly unregulated. Players aren't tied down to a certain template and are free to develop clans and clan activities as they please. So an API like this would allow for some very nice freedoms.

I've been suggesting something like this for years, having things like fight stats (k/d, money lost/gained etc)  would make outlasting a thing of the past and it'd give time capped fights some meaning. None of that can happen with a functioning clan system though so it's a long way off.

Recently got to see Revenant members join CT's DMM cc on stream flaming someone's (actual) dead parents. Reminds me of when RoT used to do the same to DF members. Probably not the kind of thing you want to learn and copy from other clans, haha.

I remember when I was in a PK/Warring clan and we were hitting low low #'s. I came up with the idea to go to Runescape's official forums and start recruitment there. The Pros: Gain new members, bring in a new generation of warrers to sustain clanning. The Cons: Effort and time, most people were involved in PvMIng and skilling, They thought PKing or competing in wars was taking the game "Too serious". 

We ended up getting a good group of people and I mentored a good batch of them, but once we had the decent numbers to pull 25 people to 30, we didnt have much competition. So I began calling out clans in the runescape official forums and we had fights there. Obviously the fights were very 1 sided, we controlled and dominated our opponents, but after that we disbanded. There just wasnt enough for us to do anymore. 

I noticed though, after our little call to these "RSB" type clans, they too began to war more serious. I don't think we started any thing, im certain they were already going in the direction of warring to compete, but the fact that they faced a more "organized" clan really helped them out. Some of these new people Ive seen that are representing their clans passionately were "no-namers" as they call it. They had no background in warring, and its true we all didnt have it at one point. But these people are still fresh, they're still newblood. That up and coming generation of clans pretty much died when OSRS was coming out. Alot of them shifted to osrs and some might still war others are just away from the game. Point is, there are more clans and people in the RSOF, hit them up, war with them, share your views on warring and such. The rs clan community is weird because either your in the RSC side, or you're a nobody. I wonder how many forget about the other side that's playing the game with passion and fun, WITH HONOR lol.

If someone jumped into the clan world now it would be unrecognizable. I don't blame people for not jumping in. Seems like we've dug our own grave.
